...was a great day to be alive.
• I got a library card and spent 3 solid, glorious hours on the library floor with stacks of books all around me.
• Before obtaining said library card, I accidentally walked into a police station, thinking it was a library, then saw a man in cuffs being escorted through the hall and realized there were no books. My face turned red and I headed out the double doors that said "Police" in large letters across them. How could I have missed that?
• I started reading The History of Love by Nicole Krauss and cannot put it down. Or stop thinking about it. Or talking about it.
• I picked 5 squash, 3 tomatoes, 2 okra, and thumped on 5 watermelon, but didn't hear the hollow sound I needed to pick them.
• My dad treated me to a wonderful lunch today of almond-encrusted goat cheese salad with mango and strawberries and cherry dressing.
• I found a huge batch of restaurant plates, saucers, coffee mugs, and the like at a thrift store for 25 cents each.
• I came home to a cozy home, a cup of tea, and a happy husband. Life couldn't be better.

What made your day wonderful today?

  2. Kay I am cracking up that you walked into a police station!!! :) You're pretty much adorable.

What made my day lovely yesterday was:

*Watching only one baby girl, instead of 3. Yikes, monday was a doozie.
*Completing my four mile run without my knee hurting!! What was even better was coming home and eating a Sprinkle's cupcake before I even jumped in the shower. Pretty sure you're supposed to eat after runs- but not pure sugar!! O well.
*Fun texts from my close friend I like to call Whittie. She brought good news of plates that cost 25 cents and I could give her hugs and kisses for it. :)
*An awesome night of fellowship with our Bible study in our home. And the fact that I gave myself a break and bought a frozen lasagna from Costco. Sometimes you gotta take a break from homemade- at least in my opinion!!! :)

    I love you!

Other Jess - your day sounds pretty wonderful being outside for so long... jealous. :)

Miriam - Thanks so much for the recommendations! Have you read the Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns (both by Khaled Hosseini)? Pretty amazing. Also, A Severe Mercy by Sheldon Van Auken is my favorite book of all time. Hope you're loving Oregon!
